Pioneer DDJ-REV7 Battle style DJ controller for Serato DJ Pro.
The new DDJ-REV7 is part of of a revolutionary range of controllers from Pioneer DJ.
Built for Serato DJ Pro, the DDJ-REV7 features two large motorised jog wheels with built in, high resolution displays.
Laid out in “battle” format, with the play button and pitch fader in the same positions as a turntable turned sideways. The mixer section is a battle style, 2 channel mixer with performance pads above the faders and a high quality Magvel Pro crossfader.
Battle Decks
Each deck on the Pioneer DDJ-REV7 has a 7 inch “VINYLIZED” jog wheel. These are motorised with high and low torque settings and made from die cast aluminium, making them feel like a real turntable.
The high torque setting gives the same power as the Pioneer PLX-1000 flagship turntable, where the low setting feels like the Technics SL1200 mk2, so whichever your preference, you can be comfortable with the power.
This is the first time we’ve seen a display inside a motorised jog wheel too. The 3.5inch display shows different information such as waveform of the loaded and opposite decks track, album artwork, custom graphics or traditional track data. You can even load a digital track marker as well.
The acrylic top plate has a vinyl like feel to it, making it seem as if you have a real record on the platter. This top plate is removable in order to change the slipmat or slip sheet underneath to suite your style or preference.
Stop time is adjustable with the simple turn of the dedicated rotary dial to give you a sharp brake or slow wind down.
Above the wheels of the DDJ-REV7 are the Instant Scratch pads, these give you 4 built in sounds to scratch with, even without a computer. When used with Serato DJ Pro, these can be set to hot cues, scratch banks, loops or load in your own favourite samples.
Just like any battle positioned turntable, the DDJ-REV7 has the pitch faders horizontal at the top of the deck along with key lock and dedicated key shift buttons. Included with the DDJ-REV7 is a license for Serato DJ’s pitch’n ’time expansion pack for the best time stretching and key shifting.
Battle Mixer
The mixer section of the DDJ-REV7 emulates the professional grade DJM-S series mixers with its 16 performance pads within easy reach and ultra clean layout of the faders.
Just like the scratch mixers, the DDJ-REV7 has a high quality MAGVEL crossfader with adjustable curve and adjustable tension from the front of the unit to customise the feel of the mixer to suite you.
Both channel faders have curve adjustments and reverse switches for all types of scratch tricks.
Each channel has its own dedicated filter and 22 on-board beat FX and 5 other FX which can be activated using the paddle style switches.
The mixer section also allows for line or phono inputs, easily switchable on each channel as well as 2 microphone inputs and an auxiliary input.
With the two USB ports, two computers can be connected simultaneously for B2B DJ’s and one great new addition is that the microphone channel can be routed through the interface which is ideal for streaming or when recording to a computer.
FX
The DDJ-REV7 has 22 built in Beat FX to dynamically change the sound of your tracks. Add drama to your track transitions with the 3 brand-new BeatFX. In total there are 22 BeatFX, which you can trigger with the dedicated paddle controls. You can also pull the effects paddles down and hold them to apply effects from Serato DJ Pro in short bursts, or push them up to lock effects on and free up your hands for scratching or track browsing. Instantly trigger the effects saved in 4 FX Banks and edit them via the Setting Utility on your PC/Mac. While you’re using one of these effects, you can also trigger up to 6 more from Serato DJ Pro. The DDJ-REV7 also has 5 popular Sound Color FX to experiment with. New Beat FX:
•Duck Down: A roll effect that fades out while lowering the pitch.
•Fill Out: A roll effect that forms a roll with a changing rhythm pattern and fades out with echo.
•Helix Out: An effect that samples the input sound and repeatedly fades it out like a reverb, while increasing the playback speed and pitch.
